Province bans use of drones in hunting
Hunters in B.C. won’t be allowed to use drones to help them track wildlife, now that the province has amended the Wildlife Act to make that illegal.
The Forests Ministry says the regulations mean hunters can’t operate or possess a drone, or use data obtained by a drone during their expeditions.
It’s also illegal now for a third party to use a drone to help a hunter or trapper.
The minimum fine for hunting with a drone, or even a helicopter, is $2,500, but a first conviction could cost a hefty $250,000 and up to two years in jail.
