Put a stylish casino in the Crystal Garden

-

I was born and raised in Victoria and remember the Crystal Garden pool and Archie MacKinnon, who taught so many children in Victoria how to swim. But the pool is long gone and the various attempts to find a use for the building all failed because they were money-losers and required continuing top-ups from various governments.

A stylish casino in the Monaco tradition could supply the building with the money required for its upkeep and restoration. It could also supply tourists with an elegant destination casino that would complement their tour of Victoria and its various attractions.

I have always believed that the original casino should have gone to the Crystal and not to View Royal, but that is a battle that was lost many years ago. Let’s not make the same mistake again. Robert Pellow Parksville
