Are you looking for something different for your child to do this year? Do they love to create things? Why not enroll them in sewing classes? They will be making clothes for themselves in no time! Can you imagine how excited your child will be choosing the fabric to make those clothes? Friends and family will be amazed at the clothes they are able to make!

Andrea Bailey has been teaching children to sew from the age of seven, including teens, for over 25 years. Her photo albums are full of pictures of past students’ projects. Some of Andrea’s students have even gone on to study fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, at Ryerson University in Toronto, and at the Costume and Theatre Design course in North Vancouver.

Andrea teaches classes year-round. During the school year, classes are held after school, Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays. She also schedules camps during Christmas Break, Spring Break, and summer time. Classes are held in a sewing classroom in Andrea’s Fernwood home. Small class size – with a maximum of four students – allow children to work at their own speed.

Andrea helps students choose patterns based on their skill level, with an emphasis on students making clothing they can wear. Students start by making a bag, then pajama pants, and finally, a top. After finishing these projects, they can advance to more challenging projects under Andrea’s guidance. Check out her website to see other sewing projects students have accomplished!
