Potash worker injured on Prairies

VANSCOY, Sask. — Another worker has been injured at the Agrium potash mine in central Saskatchewan. Darrin Kruger, president of United Steelworkers Union Local 7552, said it happened on Sunday. Kruger said the worker was treated at the mine near Vanscoy, then taken to a Saskatoon hospital. He said the worker is expected to make a full recovery, but he didn’t give details about the man’s injuries. This month, Chad Wiklun, who was 29, died a few days after being pinned between two pieces of equipment at the mine. Kruger said workers at the mine are still dealing with his death. “It’s a shock and we’re still recovering from the last one. We just had the funeral service less than a week ago,” he said.
