TRAFFIC AND PARKING TIPS

Traffic

Traffic will be disrupted on Saturday and throughout the week as the Royal Family moves from location to location. If you are on the road and see the police escort team, please follow their instructio­ns. Those planning to go downtown to take in the celebratio­ns should consider taking transit, walking or cycling, or arrange to be dropped off a few blocks away from the Inner Harbour area. Transit users should be aware that bus routes and times may be affected by higherthan-normal volumes and road closures downtown.

Parking bans

Parking bans will be in place in the area around the legislatur­e starting at 6 this morning. No-parking zones will include: • Government Street between Wharf and Superior streets • Belleville Street between Oswego and Douglas streets • Menzies Street between Belleville and Superior • Superior from Oswego to Government Some parking restrictio­ns will also be in place in the lower parking lot at Ship Point off Wharf Street.

Road closures

Several roads will be closed to traffic starting at noon: • Wharf and Humboldt streets between Courtney and Gordon streets • Government Street between Wharf and Superior streets • Belleville Street between Oswego and Douglas streets • Menzies Street between Belleville and Superior streets Traffic access will be limited to local traffic only on Wharf Street between Fort and Douglas streets, Oswego Street between Belleville and Superior streets and sections of Quebec, Kingston and Superior streets close to the legislatur­e.

Backpacks, lawn chairs and unattended items

Please leave items such as backpacks, lawn chairs and large bags at home, and make sure you don’t leave any items unattended.

Drones

Drones are not permitted at the site. The Inner Harbour is an active flight zone for float planes and helicopter­s, and drones are strictly prohibited under Transport Canada rules.

Temporary cameras

Victoria police will be deploying temporary cameras in the area of the event. These cameras will be taken down afterward.
