Saskatchewan town getting 2 new doctors
PREECEVILLE, Sask. — A Saskatchewan town is getting two new physicians to fill vacant positions.
Preeceville’s emergency room’s services were suspended in June after a shortage of doctors in the community.
Roberta Wiwcharuk, with Sunrise Health Region, said they will work hard to retain these new doctors.
She said they need to have a model of care that provides a work-life balance for the doctors and provides for the needs of the community, which is to include extended primary health-care hours.
One doctor is to begin on Oct. 3, the other on Oct. 11.
The health region said it’s working on a plan to reopen the emergency room in the town, which is about 300 kilometres east of Saskatoon.
