Saskatoon leaves for next mission

-

A Canadian Navy ship has left its base in Esquimalt and is headed to the Caribbean to help fight organized crime. HMCS Saskatoon left Monday to participate in Operation Caribbe. Commanding officer Lt.-Cmdr. Todd Bacon said sailors on the ship will interrupt a major funding source for criminal organizations by stopping the flow of illicit drugs.

The Royal Canadian Navy has seized or disrupted more than 66 tonnes of cocaine and almost four tonnes of marijuana over the past 10 years.
