Electric Vehicles Popular on Vancouver Island

EVs a better fit for Vancouver Island

There’s a greater availability of charging stations in the milder, more populous parts of B.C. The Capital Regional District has over 100 EV charging stations scattered throughout the region, so if you’re an electric vehicle driver, don’t let “range anxiety” get in the way of planning a trip. The Capital Region is a perfect hometown to own an electric vehicle. With most local/drivers averaging just over 10,000 kms per year, an electric car makes so much sense. Getting from one side of Victoria to the other is just 20 minutes in most conditions. Oak Bay Municipal Hall to Saanich Municipal hall is listed as 17 minutes on Google.

LEAF ahead

With more than 100,000 examples sold, the Nissan LEAF is well ahead of the competition in terms of global electric car market share. While the report cites 90,000 electric LEAFs had been sold at the point of study, we know that figure now to be far higher, having crossed the 100,000 mark earlier this year.

In 2016 Campus Nissan sold over 150 battery electric vehicles, more than any other automobile dealer on Vancouver Island. Campus Nissan received the Clean Energy Vehicle for BC Green Star Award. One of the reasons for the increase is due to the incentive programs available to consumers including the CEV for BC program, which is funded by Province of B.C. and administered by the New Car Dealers Association.
