Cast your vote for the Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship trophy

-

Three finalists have been chosen from last month’s open call to golfing fans inviting them to submit designs for the Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship tournament’s trophy.

Now it’s time for the community to select the winning design for the trophy, to be presented to winner of the PGA Tour Champions event that takes place at Bear Mountain Golf Resort from Sept. 11 to 17.

Choices include Langford artist Paul Rober’s drawing that features a bear, to represent the golf course title, a Pacific salmon, an eagle and a totem pole.

The scene is of the 16th green from the Mountain Course, with Mount Finlayson in the background.

Graphic artist Paul Shepherd’s design celebrates the natural beauty of Vancouver Island in a stylized fashion, using simple shapes he says can be executed using a variety of materials.

Driftwood Media owner Patrick Belanger’s design features a modern interpretation of a carved soapstone bear, West Coast wilderness vistas and a laser etching of the tournament logo.

The designs will be online at Pacificlinkschampionship.com until April 12 so the public can vote for their favourite.

The design that receives the most votes will serve as the inspiration for the 2017 Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship official tournament trophy.

The winner will receive four Champions Clubhouse tickets to the tournament, two Honorary Observer passes, with inside-the-ropes access on Sept. 16, a round of golf for four at Bear Mountain’s Valley Course during the week of the event and an official apparel package. The winner will also be incorporated into the event’s closing ceremonies and trophy presentation. The winner will be announced April 18.

The 54-hole tournament, to be broadcast by The Golf Channel, runs from Sept. 15 to 17.
