RCMP believe same burglar hit Nanaimo restaurant twice

-

Nanaimo RCMP believe a man seen on a security video smashing a window and entering a restaurant is also responsible for a previous break-in there.

The video shows a man, with a dark hoodie hiding his face, approaching the Cassidy Country Kitchen at 2930 Trans-Canada Highway about 4 a.m. Monday.

He throws a large rock at the restaurant’s front door, breaking the glass on his third try.

Two bottles of hard liquor and some mix were taken from the restaurant.

After leaving the restaurant, the man runs along the highway’s northbound merge lane. Nanaimo RCMP Const. Gary O’Brien said he has a distinct gait that might help in identifying him.

Police ask anyone with information to call them at 250-7542345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800222-TIPS (8477).
