Feeding brings us closer to wildlife

Re: “Harbour seals are elite of their species,” letter, April 19. I read the signs recently posted at Fisherman’s Wharf by the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority: “Feeding seals and other wildlife prohibited.” OMG.

I have lived here for two years and watched hundreds of visitors entertained by these three to seven seals (four of them I recognize as regulars). I think this brings people closer to our seal friends and helps establish a bond with all wildlife.

I’d like to know if David Suzuki thought this activity was a concern for our seal population. John Ferguson Victoria
