It’s volunteer week in Greater Victoria
Volunteer Week open houses and information sessions run until Saturday. • Attend a Ready to Rent B.C. Information Session and find out how volunteers work on tenancy issues, budgeting and communication. The session runs 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at The Fieldhouse, 101-2860 Quadra St. (adjacent to 2860 Quadra St.) • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria is hosting a volunteer open house to explain how volunteer mentors help hundreds of local children each year. The event runs 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at the Go Girls! Lounge, Uptown Shopping Centre, 3440 Saanich Rd. • Anyone interested in volunteering to host events for families who have children with developmental disabilities can attend Community Options for Children and Families Information Session, from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at 1595 Bay St. • Join a Greater Victoria Green Team on Saturday at Cedar Hill Park. The organization’s Pulling Together volunteers are forming an invasive-plant-removal work party to remove Himalayan blackberry, so please wear long-sleeved shirt and pants. The event runs 8:45 a.m. to noon at Cedar Hill Park, 3220 Cedar Hill Rd. (meet at the end of the parking lot to the left of the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre). • The Mustard Seed Street Church is holding a tour offering a behind-the-scenes look at the building, as well as an opportunity to ask questions and learn about the church’s operations. The tour runs 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at 625 Queens Ave.
