B.C. Liberals have mismanaged province

-

Let’s assess the Christy Clark government. These are prime examples of 16 years of mismanagement that have had minimal campaign focus.

Calgary is an example of a city for comparison. Our hydro and natural gas cost 2.5 times what they do in Calgary. Sewage and sewer-usage costs are twice those of Calgary, and that city has sewage treatment. Our auto insurance rates are 25 per cent higher. We have MSP premiums, unlike all other provinces, and B.C. has frozen welfare payments for 10 years for those in dire need.

The wastefully inefficient $85-million 1994 design for the McKenzie interchange when three interchanges could be built with better result for the same cost and one-third the environmental impact. Government’s total neglect of our need for a rail mass-transit system.

The defunct LNG promise, yet natural gas could be used for B.C.’s future electricity needs. The Site C Dam make-work project proceeds at huge cost to taxpayers, yet no demand will exist for 70 years. There has been no government demand for a new and needed B.C. refinery.

These are a few examples of mismanagement and mean-spirited attitudes of this government. We live in a beautiful, wealthy province yet have the “Wild West” with scandals, despicable corporate political donations, outrageously high utility costs and the second lowest welfare and education funding in Canada. This “focus on families” mismanaging government continues to plague and skewer us.

We need much better government. Wake up, B.C.! Noel Crawford Saanich
