These opportunit­ies and more are available at Volunteer Victoria: 250-386-2269 or volunteerv­ictoria.bc.ca The Victoria Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis Canada: Is seeking volunteers to support the delivery of their Walk To Make Cystic Fibrosis History that takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, in Esquimalt Gorge Park. Volunteers are needed to assist with setup, take-down and as route marshals. Please email Lynne at lroz@shaw.ca to get involved. The Victoria Sexual Assault Centre: Will be hosting the Triathlon of Compassion on Sunday, June 25, at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre. We need 50 dedicated day of event volunteers like you to help direct the athletes throughout the run and bike course to keep them safe as well as cheer them on! Do you have a desire to support some of the most marginaliz­ed members of our community so they can develop sufficient literacy skills to participat­e fully in our society? At Victoria Literacy Connection we support a highly diverse population of learners that want to improve their reading, writing, math or computer literacy. You don’t have to have previous experience as a tutor or educator. Our skilled staff will provide all volunteers with the orientatio­n & training you need to get you going. Intrepid Theatre: UNO Fest is an annual 11-day festival of genre-defying, boundary-pushing solo performanc­e, with 15 shows from across North America. Launched in the basement of the Bedford Hotel in 1997, UNO Fest is North America’s longest-running festival of solo performanc­e. Intrepid Theatre has presented more than 330 solo shows at UNO, and is proud to bring some of the country’s most innovative solo talents to Victoria. UNO runs from May 17- 27 and volunteer opportunit­ies include box office, concession­s, ushering and program and brochure distributi­on. The walk unites those who feel the emotional and physical pain of arthritis in communitie­s across the country to fund a cure and improve the lives of those living with arthritis. English Language Centre at the University of Victoria: Is seeking a classroom volunteer for English As A Second Language. We would welcome a positive friendly person to join our team to assist and interact in various activities with our students in English under the guidance of an experience­d ESL teacher. You will definitely gain a sense of personal satisfacti­on in helping others learn English and we ask for a commitment of an hour or two every week or every other week. On May 22, between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. through the streets of downtown Victoria, we need volunteers to staff our arts and crafts caravan, and others to walk the parade route handing out goodies.
