CRITICS’ PICKS
FILM
What: Brazil Where: Cinecenta When: May 23, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Why: Twenty-seven years after its release, Terry Gilliam’s darkly comic Orwellian satire remains one of the Monty Python alumnus’s most compelling and visually dazzling cinematic trips. Despite some obvious plot holes, Gilliam’s tale about a daydreaming bureaucrat at the Ministry of Information (Jonathan Pryce), who takes his blinders off and dares question authority in a world where one’s every move is covertly documented, achieves a chilling new resonance in the Trump era. Here’s a rare opportunity to see this brilliant dystopian nightmare where it belongs — on the big screen. — Michael D. Reid
