Everybody can play at VCM Westhills

-

The Victoria Conservatory of Music is new to the Westshore neighbourhood! Our very first satellite location is now open at the new YMCA/YWCA complex in Langford. This new selection of classes, ensembles, and lessons offered is only “the first verse,” and will be updated continuously to better serve the Western Communities.

While classical music is the cornerstone of the VCM, our specialties have grown just like our location. We now offer contemporary music, which includes a host of other genres. Want to play rock guitar? We have that. Fiddle? We have that too, as well as pop, jazz, bluegrass, swing and indie. Individual lessons can begin at any point during the summer, so there’s no need to wait to channel your inner Hendrix, Dylan or Chopin.

Don’t worry if you’ve never played a single note. Beginners of all ages can experience playing music. Our lessons are not just for young children, but also adults and seniors who want to pick up their instrument again, or have always wanted to play but never got around to it.

The benefits to playing music are immeasurable. In fact, more of your brain is engaged while playing music than during any other activity; a benefit at any age.

Engage your brain by getting started with individual lessons this summer or check out our full Westhills program offerings launching in September.

All ages, all abilities, all genres and all instruments are welcome – from babies to seniors, classical to rock we have music lessons to suit everybody at our Westhills location.

As we expand our Westhills offerings, please continue to give us your input. If there is something you are looking for that we’re not currently offering, we want to hear from you and do our best to meet your needs and interests. For more information, go to vcm.bc.ca/westhills, or contact the VCM with your wish list by phone 778-265-5355 or email info@vcm.bc.ca.
