Jun 17 & 18 Women on the Home Front

Discover how women of the Second World War contribute­d to our victory. Join costumed re-enactors and Parks Canada staff during this two-day event at Fort Rodd Hill National Historic Site. Step back in time to honour women of the Second World War and learn about the important contributi­ons they made on the home front.

Come dressed in your best 1940s style outfit, or throw on a pair of coveralls and a polka dot headscarf – just like Rosie the Riveter on the famous “We can do it”propaganda poster. Learn the history of Ronnie the Bren Gun Girl, and learn what the acronym‘CWAC’ means. Get your family and friends to play along and join in the fun!

Admission is free in 2017.

July 9 Annual Vintage Cadillac Car Show

Join the Vancouver Island Chapter of the Cadillac Car Club of B.C. for Canada’s largest Cadillac show! With close to a hundred cars, the show offers every variety of this luxury marque: the sleek roadsters of the ´30s, the ´50s classics (all pastels, fins and chrome), ambulances, hearses, custom jobs, low-riders, and cutting-edge current models.

July 22–23 Learn to Camp

Parks Canada and Mountain Equipment Co-op are teaming up again to host the annual Learn-to-Camp experience at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites on July 22 and 23. Participat­ing families get to stay overnight in a tent within the historic site. While making new friends and enjoying breathtaki­ng scenery, learn how to pitch a tent, start a fire and stay safe around wildlife. Enjoy fun interpreti­ve programs and other Parks Canada activities. Cost: $44 adults; $22 children 3-5 years old; 2 and under free.
