Kinder Morgan should turn off the taps

-

Re: “Pipeline poker: How the Trans Mountain expansion project could play out in B.C.,” June 10. If I were the head of Kinder Morgan, I would introduce the citizens of British Columbia to a new poker game called Alberta Hold’em.

Borrowing a page from Vladimir Putin’s playbook on Feb. 27, 2015, I would not only hold off twinning the existing pipeline, but I would turn the taps off completely. I would agree to resume the flow of oil once the three political parties, the 198 leaders of First Nations and prominent foes of the pipeline such as David Suzuki, Elizabeth May and the mayor of Burnaby, Derek Corrigan, signed on to pay for the twinning in full.

If you think this is farfetched, ask the good people of Vancouver how they feel about their disappearing gas stations.

It’s time to ante up, folks. Ed Bird Victoria
