Braefoot market launches July 2

-

The Saanich Sunday Farmers’ Market kicks off next weekend at Braefoot Park, selling local produce and crafts until the end of August.

“We’re full up on food trucks, musicians and almost at capacity for artisans,” said co-organizer Marsha Henderson.

Dozens of vendors are already signed up and emails are coming in every day from more wouldbe participants. There is room for about 80 vendors of everything from artisanal mustard to veggies, canning, kombucha fermented tea, crafted items and alcoholic beverages.

Four food trucks per market are already booked, as is live music to enhance the familyfriendly atmosphere.

“We’d love a beer vendor — we have two different wine vendors, Silverside and de Vine Vineyards, which also has a distillery,” said Henderson, who is working with Sean Newby to make a go of the registered nonprofit.

Vendors will use the lacrosse box at 1359 McKenzie Ave. with hours of operation 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., with setup getting underway at 8 a.m.

Mayor Richard Atwell is expected to cut the ribbon at the inaugural market July 2.

A dry run set up will take place this Sunday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. to ensure opening day runs smoothly.
