Clark indeed offers hope for stable government

-

Re: “Transformed Clark offers platform with ‘humility, openness to change’,” June 23. With the recent election results and the potential creation of a coalition government, there has been much public discussion about how British Columbia can be governed with an NDP/Green “razor thin” majority. The answer has presented itself with Thursday’s throne speech.

B.C. Liberal Leader Christy Clark has gone to great lengths, after the election, to adopt and publicly support much of the platform and stated goals of the NDP and Greens. This would seem to give permission to her caucus to support the NDP and Greens in the coming years, thus creating the “stable government” Clark and others have expressed concerns about.

Gone are the party divisions that seemed to exist only a few weeks ago. Now, the people of B.C. can know the three political parties will work together to advance the platform and “change” all now recognize the recent election called for. The Liberals will not form a lock-step barrier, but instead will join and support the NDP and Greens.
