- BRIAN DREWRY Names and Games

The Peninsula Warriors Midget A box lacrosse team has done what it set out to do five years ago — win a provincial A title.

The Warriors, made up of 15- and -16-year-old players who have been together since 2012, captured the gold medal at last weekend’s B.C. Midget A2 Lacrosse Championship at the Langley Events Centre.

The Warriors, coached by former Victoria Shamrock Darren Sanderson, won games over Coquitlam, North Okanagan, Semiahmoo and Langley, before beating Semiahmoo again in the gold-medal game.

The Warriors had been to the provincials three times previous, but could only manage bronze. This year Peninsula capped off a perfect season, winning the Island regular season and playoff titles and then capturing provincial gold.
