Genie, the butler, part of ‘ultimate family suite’ on new cruise ship

-

The biggest cruise ship in the world will have what just might be the most spectacular family suite at sea.

Royal Caribbean says its soonto-debut Symphony of the Seas will boast an “ultimate family suite” that spreads over two decks and is chock full of fun-forthe-kids features, including a slide connecting a children’s room on the second level to the main living area below.

The suite will also have a floorto-ceiling building-block wall, an air-hockey table and two egg swing chairs for chilling. A separate movie-theatre-style TV room, complete with popcorn machine and a library of video games, also is part of the plan.

Spanning nearly 1,350 square feet, the suite also will feature a 212-square-foot, wrap-around balcony with a kid-friendly pool table, a climbing experience and a full-size whirlpool with ocean views.

The suite will have two bedrooms and accommodate a family of up to eight people. It’ll come with its own butler, known as a Genie at Royal Caribbean.

Scheduled to debut in April, Symphony will be more than 3,000 tonnes bigger than the current size leader in the cruise world, Royal Caribbean’s 226,963-ton Harmony of the Seas.

Similar to Harmony, Symphony will be part of Royal Caribbean’s record-breaking Oasis Class of ships. In addition to the Ultimate Family Suite, Symphony will boast other new features, including a New Englandstyle seafood restaurant and a sports bar that sprawls across the rear of the vessel.

Symphony is scheduled to sail to the Caribbean out of Miami starting in November 2018.
