Ex-MLA named interim DVBA executive director

-

The Downtown Victoria Business Association has hired one-time Victoria-Beacon Hill MLA Jeff Bray as its interim executive director.

Bray, who held the riding between 2001 and 2005, will step into the role previously held by Kerri Milton.

In late November, the DVBA announced it was severing ties with Milton, who had been the executive director since the summer of 2016.

No reasons were given for her departure, and the DVBA would say only that the termination was done without cause and that Milton would receive three months’ severance pay.

Bray, who is currently running a public-relations firm, said he’s looking forward to steering the organization through a transition period.

“We will work to continue providing the programs and services that support the vibrancy in downtown Victoria,” he said. DVBA chair Suzanne Bradbury said Bray was the right choice for the role.

“Jeff's knowledge of the DVBA, his respect for the membership, and his strong relationships with DVBA stakeholders make him well suited to steward the DVBA’s many exciting projects and initiatives through the first quarter of 2018,” she said.

The DVBA has hired executive search firm Davies Park to look for a new executive director. The goal is to have one in place by the end of the first quarter of 2018.
