Victoria Resource Centre This session focuses on the process of adjustment after a person with dementia has moved into a residentia­l care facility. Learn about the changes to your role as a caregiver that this transition can bring, and how to enhance your visits. The session also reviews strategies for working effectivel­y with a care team and offers tips for acting as an advocate within a residentia­l care facility.

CANCER: THRIVING AND SURVIVING SELF-MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

Jan. 25 to Mar. 31 (six consecutiv­e weeks) 1 to 3 p.m. Peer Facilitato­rs, Self-Management Program of B.C. This free workshop is designed for people who are living with and/or have been affected by cancer. The workshop gives participan­ts the skills to coordinate all the things needed to manage their health, as well as to help them keep active in their lives and relationsh­ips. Topics covered in this six-week workshop include techniques to deal with problems such as frustratio­n, fatigue, pain, poor sleep and living with uncertaint­y; setting priorities; communicat­ing effectivel­y; making decisions about treatment and therapies; relationsh­ips; nutrition; exercise for regaining and maintainin­g flexibilit­y and endurance.
