Sooke Road needs photo radar
Re: “Mayors call for action for safer Sooke Road, ” Jan. 10.
The most obvious improvement to save lives on rural Sooke Road is photo radar. “Speed kills” was an effective former provincial public-safety campaign, but unfortunately, the B.C. Liberals removed photo-radar cameras throughout B.C. for libertarian ideological reasons, despite objections from various police forces.
That and modern cars with far more horsepower than many drivers have brain power has left good, honest drivers at the mercy of speed freaks, distracted drivers and the simply unskilled.
