Mounties’ spike belt stops fleeing truck

Two people have been charged with stolen vehicle and firearms offences after Oceanside RCMP used a spike belt to disable a fleeing pickup truck that struck a police vehicle. Mounties were patrolling a forestry road Tuesday night when the stolen pickup struck the police vehicle, causing minor damage, then fled. Officers laid down a belt on Highway 19. The truck came to a halt in a ditch two kilometres away.
