Island View Beach Regional Park (Central Saanich) The tide is out! Join a CRD parks naturalist and get a glimpse of the creatures that live beneath the rocks. Be prepared to get your feet wet – bring sandals or beach shoes. Meet at the grassy area adjacent to the picnic shelter off Homathko Road. Details: 250478-3344.

Beginner Birding Basics: a guided walk for 8+ years Saturday, Jun. 2, 9-11 a.m.

Island View Beach Regional Park (Central Saanich). Ever wanted to bird watch? This is a great time of the year for birding, as courtship and territory disputes fill the air with song. Join a CRD parks naturalist and learn what to look for, and how to use binoculars and field guides. Bring binoculars if you have them. A spotting scope will be provided. Brentwood Bay Festival Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2

Pioneer Park. The festival kicks off with a songwriter­s’ panel concert on Friday night at the Brentwood Bay Village Emporium followed by a full day events and fun on Saturday, with a parade, pancake breakfast, entertainm­ent on stage, and a vendor market.
