B.C. NDP’s policies could be ruinous
Re: “Electoral reform process skewed,” column, May 31.
Once again, Les Leyne has provided the necessary insight into the dark side of politics associated with the Horgan government as the NDP pursue their socialist agenda under the guise of creating a better mousetrap to capture votes.
While the jury is still out in B.C. on the net benefit from proportional representation, one only has to look at other jurisdictions where this questionable process has created so much dysfunctional governance.
Italy is a case in point. What is it about socialist ideology that causes their proponents to park common sense at the door? To say socialism as a doctrine is a failure is an understatement, considering the reckless manner in which these ideologues are attempting to dismantle perfectly sound democratic systems and economic practices that, on balance, have proven more than workable. Not perfect, but at least stable and enduring.
To place the pitfalls of socialism in perspective, one needs to look no further south than Venezuela, where the socialist regime has effectively turned the country into an economic and political basket case.
British Columbians should sleep with more than one eye open as we witness a premier run amok with narrowly defined policies that might prove just as ruinous as has happened elsewhere.
When will the madness end? Hopefully, long before Premier John Horgan makes B.C. disappear down the rabbit hole.
