Another victory for human rights?

Re: “Law societies can deny accreditation to Christian university’s school: court,” June 16. The decision by Canada’s Supreme Court cements our country’s rejection of any connection to its Christian past. The movement to remove any connections between the state and Christianity has now been extended to block Christian educational institutions from forming individuals with a Christian worldview.

As Christians, one of our fundamental beliefs is that a man and a woman, in an exclusive marriage, is a reflection of God. Just as the love between the Father and the Son gives life to the world, so does the love between a husband and wife give life.

Christianity calls all people to use their sexuality only as it is intended to be used: for the creation of a family in the intimacy of marriage. This is opposed to a society that believes that our bodies are our own property and that we can do whatever we want with them.

Christianity does not condemn those who hold this opposing view, but does demand the right to express its own view.

By rejecting Trinity Western’s proposed law school, the road has been paved to reject any Christian institution that promotes a world view that contradicts society’s conception of humanity.

Yet, where does society’s world view lead? To a society where everyone has everything they want but lacks the one thing that they truly need. Michael Casagrande Victoria
