BC Aviation Museum Open House followed by Big Band Hangar Dance

SATURDAY, JULY 28 Open House: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dinner Dance: 5 to 10 p.m. BC Aviation Museum 1910 Norseman Rd. At the Victoria Internatio­nal Airport

This year, the BC Aviation Museum Open House will honour Canada’s participat­ion in the closing days of World War I in 1918. This popular annual event includes the museum’s exhibits, inductions into the BC Aviation Hall of Fame, activities for children including the Kids’ Pooh Bear Corner, military re-enactors and vintage military vehicles.

The Sidney Lions Club and Mama Rosie’s Food Truck will be selling refreshmen­ts. $40 Discovery Flights will be available through the

Victoria Flying Club and Pacific Sky Aviation.

Expanded parking will be available nearby at the Rotary Park Field of Dreams on Canora Road, with shuttle service to the museum. Note that service animals only will be allowed on the museum grounds. The event is free. Info: 250-589-2602. bcam.net Museum Fundraiser Dinner Dance

Dance to the Commodores Big Band – surrounded by vintage aircraft. The third annual Big Band dinner dance will take place in the BC Aviation Museum main hangar on the evening of the museum’s annual Open House, Saturday, July 28.

There will be door prizes and raffles, dance lessons and a silent auction. Doors open at 5, dinner is at 6 and dancing is from 7 to 10 p.m. Details: 250-656-7600.
