Campus Revitalized
Westmont Montessori School is opening a brand new, purposely designed classroom building in September that will be the new home of all kindergarten to grade seven students. The new classrooms are large, spacious and full of natural light, helping Westmont achieve their vision of providing a world-class Montessori education now and for generations to come.
Westmont has been working toward revitalising their campus for many years. The impetus for the final push came with the 2015 strategic plan – to focus on the replacement of Westmont’s somewhat tired classrooms with modern purpose-built spaces specifically designed to enhance the Montessori pedagogy. With the vital support and input of staff, families and the community, the school is well on the way to completing the first new building of its revitalised campus.
“We have grasped a once in a generation opportunity to create innovative new spaces where we can all gather as a community, lift our imaginations, enrich our minds, strengthen our bodies and celebrate learning,” Magnus Hanton, Head of School said.
This past year at Westmont has been transformation al. The new building has gone from design to reality in a remarkably short time. While not without normal setbacks and complications, the project has progressed smoothly and successfully. West mont is truly excited to think that in a few short weeks, they will move current classes from their rooms into their new home in the purposefully designed spaces of the new building.
Westmont invites the entire community to the grand opening ceremony for the new classroom building on Tuesday, Sept. 25. As this project has been many years in the making and is the culmination of a lot of work by successive generations of Westmont families and supporters, the school is particularly eager to welcome past families and students of Westmont to the opening ceremonies.
“We are so excited to have the opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the lifelong love of learning that is at the heart of our Montessori education,”says Board President David Caughran.
