- collegeofmassage.com/Victoria

Massage therapy is one of Canada’s fastest growing healthcare fields in the new landscape of healthcare fields. Amidst a faltering conventional healthcare system and the phenomenal growth of complimentary and alternative medicine, massage therapy is proving to be a vital component of alternative health care.

The West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT), a pioneer and leader in the massage therapy industry, is helping meet the growing demand for highly trained registered massage therapists.

Massage therapy is an extremely versatile and practical treatment for many conditions and has proven to positively affect the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems, to rehabilitate physical injuries and improve health. Anyone with pain or dysfunction arising from injury or physical disorders of the soft tissues and joints of the body, or people with systemic disorders affecting circulation, digestion or general well-being will benefit from massage therapy.

Students who complete the required 20-month full-time diploma program may write the provincial board exams to become a registered massage therapist. WCCMT’s articulation agreements with Thomson Rivers University allows our students advance standing to complete a Bachelors in Health Science degree.

Some of the career options for massage therapists include working alongside chiropractors, physiotherapists, kinesiologists and athletic therapists. Some choose to set up their own private clinic.

Since 2001,WCCMT’s students have volunteered their time treating a variety of patients through community events who would not ordinarily have the opportunity to access massage therapy.

WCCMT’s students have been treating patients at Mt. St. Mary’s, Luther Court, Berwick House, Nigel House and The Garth Homer Society. Other charity events include Easer Seals 24 hour relay for CF, MS kick for the Cure, MS Grape Bike Escape, TC 10K Run. On average, WCCMT’s students participate in over 60 events annually, on top of weekly placements, totalling approximately 1000 hours of volunteer participation in the community each year.

The West Coast College of Massage Therapy offers opportunities for individuals seeking elite programs with the highest standard of training.
