Even with the change in the weather and the fear of rain, we are incredibly thankful that it held off and for everyone who still came out to help us raise $186,218 in cash donations this year! With over 400 registered show vehicles, over 7,500 spectators, 106 generous sponsors and over $220,000 of in-kind sponsorships, we are elated that the 2018 Vancouver Island Motor Gathering exceeded last year’s totals! Even with cash prizes for each category the generosity continued to flow with four winners donating back their prizes into the total. Those generous winners were H. Sager, B. Johnson, S. Seixeiro and M. Jeffers. We are overjoyed to contribute $56,218 to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation in their efforts to raise funds for their new, muchneeded hospital for the region; $100,000 to the David Foster Foundation, which helps continue the support for families of children in need of organ transplants; and $30,000 to local families whose needs are not supported by any specific organization. A special thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors – thank you for all of your support, donations and in-kind sponsorships. It is because of the generosity of all of our sponsors that we were able to help so many families this year. We’d especially like to recognize our Diamond Sponsor, Chris Erb of SupErb Construction Ltd, in not only donating his portion but in also helping us fundraise a significant portion of the donations this year. For a complete list of sponsors from this year’s show, visit motorgathering.com; we hope you will help us in applauding them for their generous contributions. If you would like to become a sponsor for the 2019 Motor Gathering, please contact us and submit your request today! We would like to thank Coachwerks Restoration for putting on their static display of amazing restorations and works in progress. It was very popular and gave our audience perspective on how many of the exhibitor cars are restored, maintained and elevated through services like Coachwerks. Their expert team of restorers were generous in lending us their valuable time and keen eyes as judges for the many beautiful show cars at the event. Congratulations go out to B. Cairne who won Best in Show and Best American with his stunning 1958 Chevrolet Impala. Check out the website to see the complete list of this year’s winners. Thank you again to all of our supporters! Without their enthusiasm, donations and the priceless collection of valuable and beautiful vehicles on display, we could not have put on such an extraordinary event. Visit our website to view our gallery event albums of beautiful vehicles and winners of the show. Please feel free also to share your photos and use #motorgathering to tag what you saw. We love to see how fans enjoyed the event and picked their favourites throughout the day. We invite you to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to see all the latest updates on our postevent information. We are also looking to the future, and have plans to change things up to bring something different to the island! We are already busy preparing for next year, and there’s going to be a bunch of development in the show to make it even more special than the past seven successful fundraising years. Check back often, and we’ll let you know some of the exciting changes that will make next year’s show unique to Vancouver Island and the pacific north-west. Thank you for joining us this year, and we look forward to seeing everyone again on August 25th, 2019 for the next and newly formatted Vancouver Island Motor Gathering!
