Police restart search for man who went missing in 1985

International case: Victoria investigators connecting with team in England

-

Victoria police investigators are conducting an international search for information on a man who went missing 33 years ago.

The decades-old cold case is getting a fresh set of eyes as police continue to piece together what happened to Dennis Crook.

Crook was 34 when friends reported him missing on Oct. 22, 1985, four days after he was last seen.

Part of the investigation involves trying to contact Crook’s sister, Lillian, who lives overseas.

Crooks was born in England and completed Grade 13 in York, Victoria police said.

He graduated from the University of Nottingham with a bachelor of arts degree.

Police did not say when Crook moved to Victoria.

Lillian Crook is known to have resided in Holgate, York, the department said, which is why investigators have contacted North Yorkshire police and residents of Holgate in an attempt to find her.

Police believe she might have important information about her brother.

“Investigators are also looking to speak with Dennis Crook's friends here in Victoria, including those who initially reported his disappearance, or those who knew Dennis,” the department said in a statement. Crook would now be 66. He is described as a Caucasian man, five-feet-nine-inches tall, with a medium-to-large build. At age 34, Crook had brown eyes and black hair. Investigators have no photo of him.

Anyone who knows Lillian Crook is asked to email Chantal.Ziegler@vicpd.ca. Residents of Canada with information about Dennis Crook are asked to call 250-995-7654 or report anonymously through Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
