Sexual Assault Centre: Volunteer with the sexual assault response team at the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre and provide survivors of sexual assault with emotional support and information on the community resources available to them. Training begins October 2018. Learn invaluable communication skills and contribute to our community. The Mustard Seed Street Church needs volunteers to help at the food bank. Each day, hundreds of food hampers are created by volunteers and given out to the community — with your help, we can continue to provide this service to those in need. World Rowing Coastal Championships, Tulista Park, Sidney, Oct. 9-14. A first for North America in hosting this event, requiring more than 200 volunteers to manage a variety of active outdoor positions (e.g. boat assistance, admin, site setup, start and finish support). Victoria Literacy Connection — ESL, Children and Literacy Tutors. VLC supports a diverse range of learners wanting to improve their English, reading, writing or math literacy. We currently have a particular need for volunteers with experience tutoring ESL learners either one-to-one or in a small group as well as child reading support volunteers for our in-school and after-school child literacy programs. Pacific Women’s Day is the annual conference for women in the defence community.
