What to expect during a hearing test
W hether you want just a basic hearing test, or you’re ready to talk about hearing aids, Hear Central Saanich can help you. They use very up-to-date equipment with all of their procedures.
If you feel there is a problem with your hearing, the registered, certified audiologist at Hear Central Saanich will take a look at your medical history. Non-invasive testing will be performed to determine how well your middle ear functions. This helps to rule out the possibility of a medically treatable condition that could be affecting your hearing.
Next, you visit the roomy sound booth for a complete diagnostic evaluation of your auditory acuity. Once testing is complete, the results are thoroughly explained and you are encouraged to ask questions. You are welcome to have a family member join you for the discussion.
If your hearing loss is medically treatable, Hear Central will request your permission to send a copy of the test to a physician of your choice for follow-up and possible referral on to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist (ENT).
If you are a candidate for hearing aids, the audiologist will discuss your lifestyle, aesthetic preferences, physical requirements and budget. From there, the advantages and limitations of hearing products from various manufacturers will be explained.
You will be given the opportunity to try the hearing aids in simulated environments such as in a restaurant or while enjoying the outdoors.
If you’re ready, you can then choose which hearing aids you would like to be fit with for a no-obligation trial period. This gives you the opportunity to wear the hearing aids in your everyday life before deciding if they are right for you.
From there, you can choose to keep the hearing aids, try something else, or return them hearcentralsaanich.com
