‘ Tis the Season

A s 2018 comes to a close, it’s a good time to reflect on the past year and think of all that’s been accomplished. As first year owners of Russell Nursery, Sue and Laurel proclaim the experience as gratifying, and will continue in the tradition of knowledgeable service and healthy plants.

Always a fun time of year

Russell Nursery becomes quite festive and the sales area is filled with locally grown, fresh cut Christmas trees, holiday greenery and hand-made wreaths, created by Russell Nursery’s staff.

They carry both traditional and modern wreaths, which are treated with Wiltpruf — an all-natural pine resin. You can hang your wreath on your door knowing it will last throughout the season. Russel’s also carry all the materials you need if you prefer to create your own masterpiece.

Bring your family out to Russell Nursery on Wain Road and select the perfect tree for your home. While you’re there, stop and enjoy a cup of their famous home-made hot apple cider.

Russell’s has an incredible selection of rose plants available. Many can be found in their Roses 2019 online catalogue.

The roses arrive at the nursery in late February as bare-root plants, ready to be planted. Most of the roses they carry are sold this way, but they also grow roses in containers, and these are available by June.

Hundreds of varieties are available for order through the online catalogue:

russellnursery.com/roses. The orders are placed with their suppliers in mid summer for the following year.

The online catalogue lists varieties that have been ordered for 2019. Email or call Russell’s to reserve specific roses from the list.

Some of the roses available are extremely easy to grow. They have excellent disease resistance and amazing bouquet-style blooms. This year’s selection includes: Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Beverly, Eternal Flame, Francis Meilland, Grand Amore, Le Petit Prince, Perfumed Breeze, St. Tropez and Summer Sun.
