Habitat for Humanity Victoria is looking for volunteers at the Westshore ReStore. ReStore volunteers help stock shelves, sort and process donations, general cleaning, and store organizati­on. Shifts are Mondays, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and Tuesday to Saturday 9:30 a.m.-noon. The Victoria Dragon Boat Festival Society is looking for volunteers for the 2021 festival as preevent planning is already underway. Volunteer positions will include areas of the event such as: pre-event steps, event planning, special events, online website work, social media and content work, marketing, stakeholde­r surveys, and many other aspects to move both small and larger projects along. Taking into account being COVID-19 compliant, concerns will be a significan­t concern in the planning. Ideally a graduate who will qualify for the Canada Summer Student Grant under Covid-19 to obtain a grant towards tuition. The Victoria Hospice Society has an amazing volunteer opportunit­y. We are looking for people to join our patient partner advisory committee. Between now and Aug. 10, Victoria Hospice is recruiting four to six community members as patient partners to be involved in assisting us to develop and improve our programs and services. The Patient Partner Advisory Committee provides a formal opportunit­y for patient partners to contribute in planning processes and decision making as we move forward to fulfil our mission: quality palliative and end-of-life care for all. Patient partners are a diverse group with a variety of background­s and experience­s, and share a desire to improve the quality of health care. They may have had experience either as a patient, family member or caregiver, or have been part of the healthcare system in a profession­al manner. The MS Society Of Canada — Victoria Branch is looking for volunteers to get involved with their 1:1 Peer Support Program. The program is a telephone and internet-based support program for individual­s living with MS, and for caregivers and loved ones of people with MS. Applicatio­ns from interested volunteers who are living with MS, or are caregivers and loved ones of people with MS, are invited. All training is provided as is ongoing support from MS Society program staff. Lifetime Networks Victoria is looking for a volunteer who is interested in building a committed friendship with a woman in her early 20s. Through Lifetime Networks, this individual is building a small circle of supportive friends who are committed to hanging out with her once or twice a month. Some of the activities she would enjoy doing with her Network Friends include: Watching YouTube and Netflix, cats, eating out, picnics, cooking, baking, going for coffee, going to Zumba, and dancing. The Pandora Arts Collective, a registered charity whose mission is to join together around the creative arts as a healing process, is looking for a tech-savvy volunteer to serve on its membership and programmin­g committees, working with the board of directors and office manager. Responsibi­lities include: assisting with web-site maintenanc­e, and online zine, and newsletter. A background in communicat­ions or visual arts/graphic design, and experience in working with social media platforms will be helpful.
