CBC adds Amazon for Olympic coverage

TORONTO — CBC coverage of the Tokyo Olympics will be available live and on-demand on Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon says the newly announced partnershi­p in Canada marks the first time Prime Video will stream live coverage of the Olympic Games at no additional cost for its members.

Canadians can watch English and French programmin­g including the opening and closing ceremonies via the Prime Video app and online streaming.

The CBC is the Canadian rights holder to the Olympics through 2024 and will have extensive coverage on multiple platforms, starting with the opening ceremony on Friday morning.

The public broadcaste­r will air the Games on CBC and CBC News Network, and also through broadcast partners TSN and Sportsnet.

Live streams will also be available on the CBC Gem streaming service and app, the CBC Tokyo 2020 website, the CBC Olympics app and CBC TV apps.

The opening ceremony will also be offered in eight Indigenous languages and presented with closed captioning, described video and ASL integratio­ns.

Live Olympics reports will also unfold on CBC Radio One and the public broadcaste­r’s flagship news programs.

Television audiences will also be able to watch CBC’s Olympics coverage live-streamed and on-demand through television service providers including Bell, Rogers, Shaw and Telus.

Telelatino (TLN) will air men’s and women’s soccer coverage and daily recaps, while select highlights will also be available to Canadian publishing partners through STN Video.
