Egg hunts, spoon races highlight Easter events

Take the whole family to some of the Easter Egg hunts planned this weekend.

At Butchart Gardens, children 17 and under can embark on an adventure as they search for 10 hidden bunnies scattered around the grounds at the Children’s Easter Bunny Hunt— with an Easter treat at the end. Regular admission to Butchart Gardens applies.

Join the Esquimalt Lions Club for their Lion’s Easter Eggstravag­anza 2024 at Gorge Park on Saturday. The event offers a variety of family-friendly activities, including an egg hunt, egg and spoon races, a colouring station, and more. Food and snacks will be available for purchase.

The event runs 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Gorge Park by the Nature House and playground on Tillicum Road.

Search for elusive eggs at the Neal Estate Group’s 25th Annual Easter Egg Hunt for B.C. Children’s Hospital at Elk/Beaver Lake Park on Saturday.

There will be face painting, crafts and refreshmen­ts as well as hidden prizes.

Admission is by donation. The event starts at 10 a.m., with the Easter egg hunts starting at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elk/Beaver Lake Park. For more informatio­n, go to ronneal.com/easter.php.

Sooke residents are going to have an egg-citing day as the community holds its annual Easter egg hunt at John Phillips Memorial Park on Saturday.

Hosted by Pemberton Holmes, the event features face painting, colouring activities, balloons and popcorn. There will be separate egg hunts tailored for toddlers and elementary­school age children.

Egg hunt times are 10 and 11 a.m. for toddlers (up to three years old), 10:20 and 11:30 a.m. for children four to eight years old and 10:40 and 11:40 a.m. for children nine to 12 years old. The event takes place at John Phillips Memorial Park, 2201 Otter Point Rd., Sooke.

Hippity hoppity down to the Fairfield United Church’s annual Easter Egg Hunt at Robert Porter Park on Saturday.

This free, inclusive and fun community event will have music, a hunt for some eggs in age-appropriat­e groups and candy.

Caregiver supervisio­n is required for all children. Please bring your own Easter basket.

The church will also be collecting donations to help support their hosted Syrian family.

Suggested donation is $5 per child, $10 per family, with siblings (under one year old) of a registered child free.

The event starts at 11 a.m. at Robert Porter Park, 1350 Fairfield Rd.
