Workplaces that take wellness seriously

Spin room deloitte

At Deloitte’s open-concept downtown HQ, employees burn calories while accumulating billable hours aboard treadmill desks, wisely located in soundproof rooms (PSA: busy colleagues don’t want to hear you huffing, puffing and/or grunting). There’s also a wellness centre with a meditation lounge, and Pilates, yoga, barre and spin classes. The staff café offers affordable, healthy fare.

All together now clutch Pr

The theme at this Junction PR office is communion: staff meditate and drink smoothies together every morning, then lunch en masse around a communal table (phones are prohibited during meals). There are jars of vegan cookies everywhere, plus a good news gong, micro-gardens and a living wall nicknamed Gertrude. The best perk: a secret nap room hidden behind a bookshelf.

Hoop dreams Bensimon Byrne

The three-in-one creative agency (marketing, PR, design) occupies two floors in the CBC building at Wellington and John. Employees work up a sweat and hone their crossovers on the basketball court, do yoga, pilates, meditate and attend healthy living seminars in the wellness centre, then periodically let loose at the facility’s many bars and party spaces.

Pay it forward Salesforce

Salesforce’s Queens Quay hub offers yoga classes, and mindfulness and stress management sessions. Standing and treadmill desks abound, as do healthy snacks. The company gives staff $100 a month for gym memberships, paid days off to volunteer and, for employees who complete seven volunteer days in a year (always good for the heart), $1,000 to their charity of choice.
