Getting involved

to events. The volunteer program is divided into three categories — Volunteer Contributor, Volunteer Enthusiast and Volunteer Leader — and each category requires different time commitments.

The reciprocal program offers many benefits, including free TTC tokens, refreshments during shifts, recognition events, and reference letters, and signing up for shifts is easy online. The biggest benefit, though, is the chance to pursue your interests while learning new skills and meeting new people. Whether your passion is literature, performing arts, working with children or professional development, volunteering at Harbourfront Centre lets you explore it in a way that fits your schedule. Whether you donate your time or money, your participation is the pulse of Harbourfront Centre

From the beginning, Harbourfront Centre has honoured Toronto’s unique history. Its architects took care to incorporate the original Terminal warehouse, 1920s powerhouse and York Quay buildings into the planning of the urban park. Out of this industrial landscape, a site devoted to the growth of new cultural expression and local, national, and international cultural change was born.

Volunteers have always been an important part of this vision, contributing new ideas and connections to Toronto’s many multicultural communities.

One of the keys to Harbourfront Centre’s success is that its many festivals and exhibitions are both engaging (shows, shops, and restaurants) and interactive (camps, workshops, participatory performances). Each year, 700800 volunteers help the chefs at cooking demos, film the readings by internationally recognized authors, help children make crafts, and welcome visitors to the festivals and events. Anyone over the age of 16 is welcome to get involved, and volunteers receive free tickets
