2006: Drafted fifth overall by the Boston Bruins.
2007: Wins Bill Masterton Trophy for Sportsmanship, after missing 12 games during his rookie season because of testicular cancer.
2009: Traded to Toronto for a 2010 first-round pick (Tyler Seguin), a 2010 second-round pick (Jared Knight) and a 2011 secondround pick (Dougie Hamilton).
2010: Wins silver medal at Vancouver 2010 Olympics with Team USA.
2011: Is the player picked last in the first all-star game to feature captains choosing selected players. He was awarded a new car and $20,000 (U.S.) for being the last man standing.
2013: During the Leafs’ only playoff appearance of his career, scores four goals and marks seven assists in the team’s seven-game series against Boston.
2014: Plays for Team USA at the Sochi Olympics; the team lost 5-0 to the Finns in the bronze medal game.
2015: Led the Leafs with 59 points but had his work ethic and fitness questioned. Traded to Pittsburgh on July 1 by Leafs president Brendan Shanahan.
