Missing man’s body found

- STEPHANIE WERNER AND SEAN WETSELAAR STAFF REPORTERS

Police have confirmed that a body found in Humber Bay on Wednesday is that of Keith White, who fell overboard on June 13 during a cruise.

Next of kin have been notified and the body has been sent for autopsy.

The Toronto Police Marine Unit found the body at about noon and detectives determined that it was the body of White, 34, from London, Ont., who had been missing since he fell off the Northern Spirit cruise boat more than two weeks ago.

“We are grateful to have Keith’s body returned,” White’s oldest sister, Crystal, wrote in an email to the Star on Wednesday.

“But our brother, and my parents’ only son, is gone — and there is nothing in the world that can repair that loss. We are all experiencing tremendous grief as we process the news.”

At the time of the incident, White’s family questioned why he had not been rescued after falling overboard.

In a statement from White’s family after his disappearance, they described him as “very healthy” and a certified lifeguard.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada dispatched a team soon after White’s disappearance, and continues to investigate the incident.
