Gagne retires after 14 years

PHILADELPH­IA— Forward Simon Gagne announced his retirement Tuesday, ending a 14-year NHL playing career. Gagne had 291 goals and 310 assists in 822 career regular-season games for Philadelph­ia, Los Angeles, Tampa Bay and Boston. His career was plagued by injuries but he was a complement­ary player on the Kings’ 2012 Stanley Cup team. The Ste. Foy, Que., native was the 22nd selection in the1998 NHL entry draft and broke into the league as a 19year-old.
