Open doors to politicians
Re An open letter to circling realtors: Leave me
alone, Sept. 11 Bill Taylor is an ingenious writer and seems a nice guy, but part of his writing is not so nice: “I’ve just put my customary election note on the front door: ‘We don’t talk politics with strangers.’ ”
One of the most enticing characteristics of truly democratic countries like Canada is the willingness of politicians, particularly during election times, to mingle with their constituents or even visit them at their homes to expose and discuss with them their ideas if elected. Compare it with those political regimes that are isolated from public opinion.
So be a nice chap, Bill, and replace that note with this, “Candidates or their representatives are welcome.” Jaime Oksemberg, Toronto
