Week 2: NFL picks
As always, all lines could change.
New England (pick) at Buffalo
Could it be? Could the Bills have a quarterback in Tyrod Taylor who doesn’t make the fan-base long for the unambiguous cold twin embraces of liquor and a snowbank? Could the two Patriots employees implicated in Deflategate really return to the team? Could Tom Brady endorse Donald Trump for President? All things, it seems, are possible.
Pick: New England
Atlanta (+2.5) at N.Y. Giants
So on New York’s final drive Sunday night Eli Manning, 1. Lost track of how many timeouts the Cowboys had, despite there being a video screen the size of Oklahoma above his head; 2. Told his players not to score, despite this being insane; 3. Stopped the clock, allowing Dallas to come back and win. In fairness, the officials also missed two key calls.
Great work, everyone.
Pick: Atlanta
Dallas (+5) at Philadelphia
How I love the Tony Romo experience. After Eli’s whoopsidoodle throw out of bounds, Romo calmly marched Dallas down the field, and instead of an interception, threw the winning TD after having to scoop up a bad snap. Antonio Ramiro Romo: More comeback wins than anybody in the NFL since 2006, and not accounting for era inflation, the secondhighest career passer rating ever. Pick: Dallas
