-

Veteran Canadian character actor Doug Lennox has died. His management says Lennox died in his sleep on Nov. 28, age 77.

Lennox was born in Sudbury, Ont., and left school at 16 to support his family when his father died suddenly. After a military career that included service in the Gaza Strip, Lennox worked as a bartender, typewriter salesman, private eye and model in Toronto before taking up radio at CKAR radio in Huntsville, Ont., and CBC in Toronto.

His acting career included various TV and movie parts, including Police Academy and X-Men. Lennox was also a radio producer.

“He worked with everyone you can imagine, from Mary Tyler Moore to Holly Hunter to Hugh Jackman, but no one was more interesting to him than the last person he met in line at the bank,” said former agent Jonathan LeClaire. Star staff
