The kiss of death for Trump

-

Re Relax, Trump won’t win, Opinion Jan. 24 Bob Hepburn presents seven well-reasoned arguments why Donald Trump will not win the U.S. presidency. He tells us to relax, but I can’t relax knowing that millions of Americans support him.

One man, no matter how powerful and rich, is not in himself a danger. But the millions of supporters who are disgruntled, angry and feeling alienated from the country’s leaders, are a danger to democracy and balance in the world. Trump may not win the presidency, but his impact not only on U.S. politics but on world stability should not be underestimated. Whoever enters the White House next must deal with this alienation.

Leadership, both in the U.S. and in Canada and the entire Western world must do something or the forces of evil of which Trump is merely a symbol will destroy us. Stephen Bloom, Toronto Re You betcha. Trump lands key endorsement from Palin, Jan. 20 I fail to understand how an all-style and no-substance personality like Sarah Palin can have such influence over U.S. politics. U.S. politics is no longer the politics of Lincoln and Kennedy, it is now the politics of entertainment. People who should be selling real estate are now persons of power and influence. We seem to be in the age of fluffy hollowness. Douglas Cornish, Ottawa Sarah Palin endorsed Donald Trump for president. If that isn’t the kiss of death, I don’t know what is. Herb Stark, Mooresville, N.C. Can you imagine, Trump as president; Palin as his VP; Kevin O’Leary as PM of Canada and one of the Ford brothers as mayor of Toronto? A true nightmare. Carl Irwin, Flesherton, Ont.
