WANDER: Plagwitz
The neighbourhood of Plagwitz, west of the city centre, has seemed to thus far avoid the rather slick gentrification that has gained speed with Leipzig’s recent boom years. Students, artists and alternative-minded locals mix here in the bars and cafés that line the main street, Karl-Heine-Strausse. The huge Westbesuch (westbesuch.com) street markets are a particular draw, or just tuck into a warmly lit bar at night.
